TikTok username generator
Combine your name and topic into username ideas that follow TikTok’s rules. Free and browser-only. TikTok tells you whether a name is free when you try it in the app.
TikTok’s username rules
- Length: 2 to 24 characters.
- Characters: letters, numbers, underscores (_) and full stops (.) only. No spaces, no emoji, no styled fonts.
- No full stop at the end.
- Unique: nobody else can have the same username.
- Changes are limited: TikTok lets you change your username only once every 30 days.
The generator only shows ideas that fit the character rules. Whether a name is taken, TikTok tells you when you type it into the username field in Edit profile.
What makes a good username
Easy to say and spell
People will hear your username in videos, see it in comments and type it into search. If you’d have to spell it out loud, it’s harder than it needs to be. Avoid swapping letters for numbers unless it’s obvious.
Matches your name everywhere
The same handle across platforms makes you easier to find. Check it’s free on the other places you use before settling.
Leaves room to grow
“Jo bakes cupcakes” is great until Jo starts making bread. A broader topic word, or just your name, ages better.
Separators used sparingly
One full stop or underscore can make a handle readable (jo.bakes). Several (jo_._bakes__) look like a placeholder.
Username, name and bio
Your @username is the unique handle. Your name is the bold text on your profile, up to 30 characters, which can contain spaces and even styled characters from our font generator. Your bio holds 80 characters about what you post, and our bio generator helps with that. Searchers can find you by both username and name, so keep your real or brand name in at least one of them in plain text.
Before you change an existing username
- Old links break. Links to your old profile address may stop working, and people who search the old name won’t find you.
- You can’t change back straight away. The 30-day limit means a mistake sticks for a month.
- Running orders are tied to the username. If you’ve bought followers, likes or views, finish the order and the 30-day refill period first, because delivery and refills follow the username you entered.

Ideas when your name is taken
- Add your topic: jo.bakes, jocooks, jo_lifts.
- Add a short word: heyjo, itsjo, justjo, the.jo.
- Use your surname or an initial: jo.reed, joreed, jo.r.
- Add a place if you’re local: jo.leeds.
- Avoid long strings of numbers, which look like a default account and are hard to remember.
Press More ideas above for different combinations, then try your favourites in Edit profile until one is free.
Avoid names that look like someone else
Usernames that imitate a brand, a celebrity or another creator can be reported and removed under TikTok’s impersonation rules, and they confuse the people you’re trying to reach. If you run a fan or parody account, TikTok expects that to be clear in your name and bio.
